The unity of the scene was fragile, however. The scandalous performance at the Golosui ili proigraeshâ event ruled out The Zverstvo from any further official or semi-official events. F.A.K. entered into open confrontation with Yuzhnaya Volna, which itself had started to experience administrative and financial pressure from the newly elected regional administration led by renowned nationalist Nikolai Kondratenko. In a situation of declining infrastructural support local bands returned to negotiating with venues, studios and promoters individually, which amplified aesthetic and ideological differences within the scene. However, in spite of its short-lived unity, this second wave of Krasnodar punk had a significant impact on the local scene. The punk movement of the mid-1990s had shown that, despite limited resources, unstable infrastructure and only a thin layer of like-minded people, it was possible to play edgy and provocative music in a remote provincial town (see Plate 4.5). Max Nizhegorodov, founder of Pop Korm [Pop Feed] pop-punk band, and leader of Krasnodar (and subsequentlyMoscow) based Celtic-folk band Wallace Band, says:
